Soda Stream Review & Giveaway...

I am  a soda drinker.  I try and go the water route at least sometimes but if I am reaching for something to drink I definitely like something fizzy!  I don't know if you all have heard of Soda Stream but I heard about this at home soda kit a couple of months back and have bit a bit obsessed about it ever since.  When I was asked to do a review of Soda Stream I just about did a back flip (I told you I like soda!).

Soda Stream is an at home soda maker designed to make soda at home simply and inexpensively. Here is the claim for the Soda Stream website...

Making carbonated water and soft drinks is simple! Turn tap water into sparkling water in under 30 seconds, with no clean-up. Enjoy the freshness and convenience of homemade soda and protect the environment at the same time. No heavy bottles to carry, store at home or throw away. Fizz to your taste and add the flavor of your choice to make your favorite drink. Simple to clean and reuse. With a variety of colors and silhouettes, you'll be sure to find a soda maker to match with any decor.

Sign me up!  When my Soda Stream Fountain Jet arrived I just could not wait to try it out.  First of all, the design I was sent is sleek and would compliment most kitchens...

 The Fountain jet comes in the black and silver which I have but can also be purchased in white or red.  It hardly takes up any space and is actually smaller than my coffee maker.  You attach the carbonater which makes your water fizzy (a snap to do!) and you are ready to go!


I am going to come right out and say it....I love my Soda Stream.  I use this every single day.  It is  a breeze to use.  You simply fill the Soda Stream bottle with tap water, screw it into the unit and press the button until you hear three buzzes to give your water fizz ( you can press the button less to adjust your "fizz" level but I am a three buzz girl!).  The toughest part comes next when you go to pick your flavoring.  You will notice versions of all of your favorites like cola, root beer and orange but there are a bunch of unique flavors as well such as orange mango and pink grapefruit.

To add your flavoring you you add a capful from your flavoring bottle...

 

Again, you have full control here as well.  The average flavoring needed is one capful but I like a little more for a sweeter taste.  Oh, and this little bottle pictured?  It makes 12 liters of soda....can you say happy environment??   The bottles you use in your Soda Stream are reusable so your ecological footprint is a whole lot smaller using Soda Stream rather than buying can after can of soda.  Just a note here...pour your flavoring in slooooowly!  If you are like me you are so excited to be making your own soda that you will toss the whole capful in right away which makes a bit of an overflowing mess.  Take your time and you can avoid the mess!

Something else to note is that even the regular non-diet flavorings have far less sugar and calories than typical store bought versions.  The diet versions contain no aspartame either so that is definitely a plus!  Oh, and the bottles are all BPA free!

My take on the Soda Stream?  LOVE IT!  It is less expensive than buying soda (about .25 per can of soda!), less taxing on the environment and it is just plain fun!  I really like the huge variety of flavors and the convenience of having my own stash of flavorings which last for such a long time.  If you enjoy soda you should most definitely buy a Soda Stream!
