Laurie Berkner Band Party Day DVD: OUT TODAY....Review & Giveaway!

Great news for all you Laurie Berkner fans (isn't that everyone??  We are super fans over here and I can't imagine we are alone!)....there is a brand new DVD out today...Laurie Berkner Band:  Party Day!  Here is the scoop...

The party starts July 26th! Children’s music superstars and Nick Jr. channel favorites The Laurie Berkner Band will appear in a brand-new music video collection on DVD, Party Day! (Two Tomatoes Records/Razor & Tie). Party Day! is the long-awaited follow-up to the band’s 2006 quadruple platinum-selling DVD We are . . . The Laurie Berkner Band and features 12 original videos of both brand-new songs and fan favorites from the band’s best-selling CDs.

The DVD is also accompanied by a five-track bonus CD, which includes a new, acoustic version of the band’s hit song “My Family.” The song was written for one of the band’s Nick Jr. videos (which premiered in 2009 and is still in rotation on the channel) but has not previously been available on any CD. The band has received tremendous feedback from parents and caregivers for whom the all-inclusive song resonates.

Party Day! features Laurie (lead vocals, guitar), Susie Lampert (keyboards), Adam Bernstein (bass) and Bobby Golden (drums/percussion) in a musical adventure as they travel to a costume party, a birthday party and finally a pajama party. Kids can dance, sing and play along as the band tries on different costumes, hunts for the birthday cake and jumps around in Pillowland. It’s a fun-filled trip from beginning ‘till bedtime!

The Laurie Berkner Band has received tremendous critical acclaim. Time Magazine lauded Laurie as “a kind of sippy-cup Sheryl Crow…Berkner inhabits a kid’s curious perspective in her lyrics and pens folk-pop melodies that bear repeated – very repeated – listenings.” The Wall Street Journal called Laurie “one of the most popular children’s performer’s in America … Her music is distinctive because it speaks to kids without talking down to them, charming youngsters without boring grown-ups.” Laurie’s 2010 CD, The Best Of The Laurie Berkner Band recently won a N.A.P.P.A. Silver Honors Award and continues to rank in the top 15 on Soundscan’s Top Children’s Audio chart.

A former preschool music teacher by day and indie rocker by night, Laurie Berkner started selling her music over ten years ago out of her living room on her own label, Two Tomatoes Records. Laurie was the first artist to ever appear in music videos on Nick Jr., Nickelodeon’s 24-hour educational, commercial-free preschool network, and is featured in nearly all episodes of the channel’s Jack’s Big Music Show.

We LOVE The Laurie Berkner Band at our house!  They get us moving and grooving and this DVD is SO much fun.  The party theme was a huge hit with the kids.  Being guests at a birthday party, costume party and pajama party was a big thrill for them and they loved seeing what costumes the band was wearing.  The DVD was just so much fun with the band, the music, other children ad animation....lots of fun visuals!  I really can't say enough about the music...Laurie Berkner has a beautiful voice and her songs are favorites at our house.  They are fun and touching and danceable...just what my kiddos need in quality music  (me too!).  Some of our favorites from this DVD are Party Day, Where is the Cake and Shake Your Body Down.  I love that the DVD also came with a bonus CD which is now on repeat in our car CD player.   Pick this one up today on Amazon...it is a MUST HAVE!!

I learned that they have partnered with Seventh Generation and wrote a song called "One seed"...and that "you can download "One Seed" (...) when you purchase two specially-marked Seventh Generation Laundry or Baby Care products and join the Seventh Generation Rewards Program." Very cool!
