We love to let the kids pick out one present from under the tree that they want to give to another family. It has worked so well the past years they pick one of the biggest ones. It makes them feel so good that they are helping.

In our home, even though we are struggling ourselves, we adopt a child for the Holiday Season. I am trying to teach my kids that no matter how badly we have it (I am a single mom with Stage IV breast cancer and can barely pay for my own children's holiday), there is always room to help others.

We always do a secret santa and my daughter loves it. She likes going and picking out a little present and we explain to her what we're doing and the importance of giving. We also like to read stories about the true meaning of why we celebrate these holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas).
