Make Salt Dough Ornaments
Mix Together 1 cup of salt, 2 Cups of Flour and 1 Cup of Lukewarm water mixed with a few drops of desired food coloring color. Knead and pound until it is nice and doughy but not sticky (add more water/flour as needed to reach proper consistency). The kids LOVED helping with this part!
Now, I added the food coloring at this point but I would suggest adding the coloring at the water step. Less mess but either way works.
Next roll out the dough and use cookie cutters to create your shapes. Once your shapes are cut, use a straw to punch a hole in the top of your shape. Transfer the ornaments to a 200 degree pre-heated oven and bake for one hour or until ornaments are hard but not browned.
Once the ornaments are cooled, string a piece of yarn through the hole. To make the tree we looked through the backyard for the perfect branch to tie our hearts to. We put it in a large vase and this is the result...
