Holiday "It" Book List....The Boxcar Children! Review & Give Away!

You all know by know that I am a huge bookworm and it is a great wish that I raise three little bookworms.  I think I am on the right track with this and my kiddos LOVE to be read to and my twins are even now reading a bit on their own! When I was approached to do a review of the beloved series, The Boxcar Children I was over the moon.

The Boxcar Children series is likely one you remember yourself.  It is wildly popular with over 100 titles and 50 million copies in print. The first book in the series, penned by Gertrude Chandler, was published in 1942 so it has been in publication for 70 years!!  Talk about a timeless collection for young readers!  In case you are unfamiliar with the series, here is a bit of background....

The Boxcar Children introduces the reader to four children who have lost their parents at a young age and, rather than going to live with their unsavory grandfather, decide to strike out on their own. In their travels they come across an abandoned boxcar and decide to make this their home. Short, simple chapters and illustrated throughout, The Boxcar Children encounter adventures and unravel mysteries -- all the while demonstrating practical wisdom, resourcefulness and an enduring commitment to one another. Charming, exciting and heartwarming, this is a series that stands the test of time.

To celebrate the 70th anniversary of The Boxcar Children there is a prequel to the series by Newberry award-winning author Patricia MacLaughlan being released.  What a wonderful way to celebrate this charming and beloved series!  Check out this video to learn more about this special author entrusted to carry on the Boxcar Children legacy....

This series should be a staple in every home library.  I love sharing the books I loved as a child with my own children and I think it is a meaningful way to connect.  Give the gift of books this holiday season and pick up The Boxcar Children original series or the new PREQUEL   The Boxcar Children Beginning:  The Aldens of Fair Meadow Farm....

I am thrilled to offer you a very special giveaway today.  One lucky RBM reader will win a gift box set of this first four books in the series including The Boxcar Children, Surprise Island ,The Yellow House Mystery and Mystery Ranch AND a hardcover copy of the series prequel The Boxcar Children® Beginning: The Aldens of Fair Meadow Farm SIGNED by the author, Newbery award-winning author Patricia MacLachlan The ARV for this giveaway is $48.98.
