Flip Dolls & Other Toys by Laura Wilson...Review & Give Away!

Are you crafty or a wannabe crafty person? Well, do I have a book for you!  Flip Dolls & Other Toys by Laura Wilson is filled to the brim with creative toys to make for the young (or  young at heart!) ones in your life.  Here are the details....
Why make an ordinary stuffed toy when you can sew irresistible creations that flip, zip, snap, stack, and move? Filled with wit, humor, and inventiveness, these delightful interactive playthings sometimes literally turn your expectations inside out. Page after page of clever projects include a caterpillar that changes into a butterfly, a vampire who becomes a bat, and ordinary dolls that transform into superheroes! Or stitch a pretty bird that perches on your shoulder, bunnies that bounce, a car with spinning wheels, and other amazing toys.

Laura Wilson is a designer and illustrator who lives between Memphis and Nashville, TN. Her creative work has been featured in many publications and websites, including Craftzine; Sew, Mama, Sew!; Whip Up; and Kid's Crafternoon Sewing. Find her online at WeWilsons.Blogspot.com.

This book is a joy to flip through.  It brings to mind classic, whimsical toys that are far superior to anything you can buy in a store.  The projects are rated from easy to hard and there is something for every skill level.  From the easy stacking bean bag trees to the more complex flip dolls (these are AMAZING!!) the instructions are clear, complete and easy to follow.  I am absolutely in love with the Smiling Crocodile (shown on the cover).  The mouth actually zips...it is darling!  Despite the fact that I am most definitely a novice, I think the author has given such good instructions that I will be able to make one for myself.  Ahem...I mean my kids.

This book is a treasure trove of creativity and is a must have.  Pick up your copy today on Amazon...

I am excited to tell you that the publisher, Sterling Publishing, is giving one lucky RBM reader a copy of Flip Dolls & Other Toys.  Thanks so much to the sponsor and good luck!  To enter use the Rafflecopter form below. a Rafflecopter giveaway

My wife and I make up silly games to play with the dogs. As long as they are with us and playing they'll go along with anything.

Right now I'm pretty into sewing. I love designing costumes and large props though. I'd say that's my passion.

I like projects that don't have to be perfect, like halloween costumes. Nothing has to be exact, and if it falls apart after one night, oh well. lol.

wing and drafting patterns. When I've got an idea, nothing is more satisfying than figuring out how it can be done.
