The Lulu Series by Hilary McKay....Review & Giveaway!

Are you looking for a series of book for the early reader in your life?  Be sure to check out the adorable series featuring an animal loving girl named Lulu.  The Lulu Series by Hilary McKay is sure to be a big hit with the young readers on your list!  I had the opportunity to check out three books from the series:  Lulu and the Duck in the Park, Lulu and the Dog from the Sea and Lulu and the Cat in the Bag and they were all delightful, fun to read and engaging for early readers.  Here is the scoop on each....

Lulu loves animals. When Lulu finds a duck egg that has rolled out of its nest, she takes it to class to keep it safe. Lulu isn't allowed to bring pets to school. But she's not really breaking the rules because it's just an egg. Surely nothing bad will happen. . .

Lulu loves animals. When Lulu goes on vacation, she finds there's a stray dog living on the beach. Everyone in the town thinks the dog is trouble. But Lulu is sure he just needs a friend. And that he's been waiting for someone just like her.
The second book in this early chapter book series for young animal-lovers.

When a mysterious bag is left on Lulu’s doorstep, the last thing her grandmother expects to be in it is a cat—a huge, neon orange cat. But Lulu knows this cat doesn’t mean any harm and in fact it needs a lovely new home.

I have twin boys who are 7 and are early readers.  They really enjoyed this series and it was fun for us to read it together.  My four year old even found it interesting to sit and listen to despite the lack of many pictures.  In my opinion, there are not too many books aimed at the early readers that are engaging enough to keep them coming back for more.  Not the case with Lulu!  Lulu is charming and funny and the adventures she goes on are fun for children to follow along on.  Lulu is a charachter your child can relate too and one that will make your child want to read and read and read (YES!).  The Lulu books are excellent for early readers and for read alouds.  You can find the full series available for purchase on the Albert, Whitman & Company website HERE.

I am so excited to tell you that the publisher is giving one lucky Reviewed by Mom reader a copy of the three books highlighted above:  Lulu and the Cat in the Bag, Lulu and the Dog from the Sea and Lulu and the Duck in the Park. Thanks so much to the sponsor and here is how to enter....
