National Geographic Kids Books....Review & Giveaway!

My children love science and nature and my two oldest (8 year old twins) especially love facts.  Their minds are like sponges and they eagerly soak up anything that interests them and they are forever asking me questions.  I love this  stage of parenting and I am always eager to feed their curious minds.  When I received the opportunity to review a selection of books from National Geographic Kids I was so excited.  We regularly seek these types of books out so I just knew A&W would devour them.  Here is what came to my house making me super cool mom....

Can you say cool mom points??  These books were poured over the minute they were delivered!  Here is the scoop....

  • Where to begin???  These books were all a huge hit!  Let's start with the Fill-In's.  These are SO much fun.  They reminded me of the Mad Libs of my own childhood.  The pages are fun stories with important words left out....

You are left to fill in the blanks creating hilarious stories.  My 8 year olds never tire of this.  Not only are the books fun and interactive but they also teach fun and interesting facts along the way.  For instance, did you know ancient Egyptians mummified not only humans but also apes, dogs, cats and hippos??

Next we have the Activity Sticker books.  Like the fill-ins, these are bursting with facts and information presented in an exciting way.  Each page features lots of educational information as well as spots to match up the colorful stickers provided in addition to some great activities like mazes, drawing challenges, dot-to-dots and more.  These books are the answer to long waits at doctors offices, restaurants or even car rides!

Finally, we have my personal favorite, the Weird but True Fact a Day Journal.  This book is a real gem.  Each day has a dedicated fact with a fun corresponding question.  For instance, on January 20th we learn that sculptors made a full-size castle of ice at a festival in China (alongside a way cool picture of it)....

There is then a spot for kids to answer the question, "If you were to carve the world's greatest ice sculpture, what would be your subject?".  Each day is filled with a cool fact, amazing picture and a question to answer.  This is a super way to introduce kids to journaling all while teaching them interesting facts about the world we live in.

National Geographic never disappoints and they have proven it again with this collection.  These books are not just educational and full of interesting facts but they are fun, imaginative and interactive.  Your kids will love them!  You can purchase the books using the links below....
