Monster Trouble by Lane Frederickson....Review!

Here at Reviewed by Mom it is all about Halloween these days.  With Halloween in just a couple of weeks the kids are all abuzz over anything spooky.   We have started to decorate (we go all out!) and are going to a pumpkin carving this weekend.  Last night out book of the evening was centered around something decidedly "Halloweenish".....Monsters!  Let me tell you about the book "R" and I shared last night, Monster Trouble by Lane Frederickson.  Here is the scoop...

Nothing frightens Winifred Schnitzel—but she DOES need her sleep, and the neighborhood monsters WON'T let her be! Every night they sneak in, growling and belching and making a ruckus. Winifred constructs clever traps, but nothing stops these crafty creatures. What's a girl to do? (Hint: Monsters HATE kisses!) The delightfully sweet ending will have every kid—and little monster—begging for an encore.

Our Thoughts:  What a fun and silly story! R loved it and so did I.  I loved that the main character was a girl who was so brave nothing frightened  her and I really loved the premise of how things that were perceived to be scary were really, in fact, just an annoyance.   Talk about empowering kiddos!

All Winifred's ideas for traps were met with big giggles from my daughter especially  the "prickly bum chair".  My daughter dissolves into laughter about this one every time!  The conclusion of the book is charming with Winifred finally finding a way to make those monsters stay away and it doesn't take complicated tricks or traps.  Turns out monsters are appalled and horrified by kisses so a goodnight kiss will send those pesky guys packing.

This book is a real treat and just perfect for this time of year.  You can pick up your copy today on Amazon.....

This looks like a very cute book, it must be annoying when you're trying to sleep and the monsters won't leave you alone.
