The Appearance of Annie Van Sinderen by Katherine Howe....Review & Giveaway!

Good Morning, Readers and happy Saturday.  I have been doing a lot of reviews for the kiddos lately and I thought one for my grownup readers was long overdue.  Today I bring to you The Appearance of Annie Van Sinderen by Katherine Howe.  This book was a real page turner and it was by an author I who hooked me years ago (more on that in a minute).  Here is the scoop on the latest from Katherine Howe....

It’s July in New York City, and aspiring filmmaker Wes Auckerman has just arrived to start his summer term at NYU. While shooting a séance at a psychic’s in the East Village, he meets a mysterious, intoxicatingly beautiful girl named Annie.

As they start spending time together, Wes finds himself falling for her, drawn to her rose-petal lips and her entrancing glow. There’s just something about her that he can’t put his finger on, something faraway and otherworldly that compels him to fall even deeper. Annie’s from the city, and yet she seems just as out of place as Wes feels. Lost in the chaos of the busy city streets, she’s been searching for something—a missing ring. And now Annie is running out of time and needs Wes’s help. As they search together, Annie and Wes uncover secrets lurking around every corner, secrets that will reveal the truth of Annie’s dark past
.

My Thoughts:  Let me start by giving a bit of background.  Probably around 7 or 8 years ago a friend lent me a book called The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane.  I absolutely adored the book.  It was exciting and interesting and unlike anything I had every really read before.  Life went on and I read many (hundreds?) of other books but still this book stuck with  me.  About a year ago I pretty much did a cartwheel when it turned up in the Little Free Library I had outside of my house.  I was SO excited and I even re-read it because I loved it so much (I try not to do this as there are so many wonderful books out there).  In any case, it was just as fabulous the 2nd time around.  I was thrilled when I was approached to review Howe/s latest book. The Appearance of Annie Van Sinderen.  A new book by a beloved author??  Yes, please!

This new read had many of the same features I loved about The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane.  The characters were well developed and likable and the writing style immediately captured me.  Howe has a very unique way of telling a story that pulls you in with some historical fiction bits, tossed with romance and finished off with a layer of eeriness.  It is hard to tear yourself away.

Now, without giving anything away this is a ghost story as well (although the "g" word is not really uttered).  The reader is along for ride as sweet and sometimes clueless Wes pines for Annie as she appears and reappears out of his life and they try to solve the mystery of who (and what!) Annie really is.  The ride was wonderful and I was truly sorry when it was over.  This book is the ultimate fall read....grab a spot on the couch, a cozy blanket a cup of tea and enjoy.  Pick up  a copy today on Amazon...

When its warmer (early fall) I like to sit outside on a bench, but as the temperatures cool down I love to read in my bed!
