The Missing by C.L. Taylor....Review & Giveaway!

Earlier this month I read a great mystery....The Missing by C.L. Taylor.  If you love a book with lots of twists, this one is for you!  Here is the scoop...

A harrowing psychological thriller about a missing teenage boy whose mother must expose the secrets within their own family if she wants to find her son—perfect for fans of Reconstructing Amelia.
You love your family. They make you feel safe. You trust them. Or do you…?

When fifteen-year-old Billy Wilkinson goes missing in the middle of the night, his mother, Claire Wilkinson, blames herself. She’s not the only one. There isn’t a single member of Billy’s family that doesn’t feel guilty. But the Wilkinsons are so used to keeping secrets from one another that it isn’t until six months later, after an appeal for information goes horribly wrong, that the truth begins to surface.

Claire is sure of two things—that Billy is still alive and that her friends and family had nothing to do with his disappearance.

A mother’s instinct is never wrong. Or is it…?

Combining an unreliable narrator and fast-paced storytelling, The Missing is a chilling novel of psychological suspense that will thoroughly captivate and obsess readers.
My Thoughts:  These days, psychological thrillers are among my favorite books to read and I have read a lot of this genre.  I appreciate the intricate thought that the author has to put in to make all the plot twists come together.  C.L. Taylor is a master at weaving a tale with many twists and turns together and I enjoyed The Missing immensely.  Taylor created characters that are very relatable.  Claire is a mom who will do anything for her kids, her husband is perfectly imperfect and her kids have the usual rivalries.  It is a typical family...until it isn't.

I thoroughly enjoyed the fact that Claire (the narrator) was having some medical episodes that made her a very unreliable source.  It really added to the feeling like you were on the edge of your seat as you were reading.  Peppered throughout the book, in addition to Claire's take, are past text message exchanges from (presumably) Billy and the person responsible for is disappearance.  I changed my mind about 20 times while reading this book about what had happened to Billy and who the player(s) were in  his disappearance and that, to me, is a real testament to a great thriller.  I would highly recommend this book to those who enjoyed The Girl on the Train or Gone Girl.  Pick your copy up today at a local bookstore or by clicking to Amazon here...
