You all already know how much I love PBS Kids. The programming on PBS is simply outstanding, providing quality viewing for our children. I am a fan of every single program on PBS and am happy to let my children watch any one of them. I am here today to give you the scoop on some wonderful holiday themed PBS Kids DVD's that are available now for purchase. These DVD's would be a wonderful treat to get ready for the holiday season or for a stocking stuffer. Check out these excellent offerings from PBS Kids...

What better way to learn about cool creatures and science than to go on an around the world adventure with Martin and Chris Kratt! In this new set, featuring 20 episodes full of adventure, mystery and laugh-out-loud-comedy, kids will learn about natural history and witness many never-before seen wildlife moments. From discovering the secret of the Draco lizard’s gliding abilities in “Flight of the Draco,” to digging up the answer to the mystery of why worms come above ground when it rains in “Mystery of the Squirmy Wormy,” all the “WILD KRATTS” episodes in this set will have kids learning and having fun. “Wild Kratts: Wildest Animal Adventures” will be available on DVD September 3. The run time of the set is approximately 555 minutes on 5 discs, and its SRP is $39.99. More than 10.5M households tune in to watch “WILD KRATTS” each month!

“WILD KRATTS” transforms Martin and Chris Kratt into animated versions of themselves, allowing the real-life zoologists to visit wild animals in their little-seen habitats and to showcase key science concepts along the way. Geared toward kids ages 6 to 8, each episode of “WILD KRATTS” presents age-appropriate science inspired by the natural abilities of animals.

Caillou loves holidays – and this set is chock-full of holiday and winter fun! From picking out a pumpkin, making Thanksgiving dinner and decorating a Christmas tree, to playing hockey and making paper snowflakes, this set will have kids laughing and learning. This three disc set, with an SRP of $19.99, and a run time of approximately 250 minutes, includes three DVDs – “Caillou’s Holidays,” “Caillou’s Winter Wonders” and “Caillou’s World of Wonder.”

New discoveries and exciting adventures abound in “Caillou: Let’s Go Sledding,” available on DVD October 8. In this outstanding new DVD, featuring nine adventures, Caillou teaches kids about patience, recognizing limits and the benefits of practice. Kids will love watching Caillou as he uses a cardboard box as a toboggan, imagines himself building the biggest snowman in the world, and overcomes his fear of an unusual animal. More than 4.5M households tune in to “CAILLOU” each month. The run time of this DVD is approximately 50 minutes, and the DVD SRP is $9.99.

“CAILLOU” is designed for preschoolers and focuses on role-playing and “make-believe.” Thanks to his vivid imagination, ordinary, everyday events quickly become exciting adventures where Caillou can play “make-believe.” By imagining they are someone else, children can often accomplish extraordinary things.

The holiday season is the perfect time of year to reinforce the importance of family. In the new DVD “Dinosaur Train: We are a Dinosaur Family,” available October 8, eight adventures feature prehistoric family fun at its best – the Pteranodon kids visit with their grandma and grandpa, Buddy, Tiny and Mr. Pteranodon join a few other dinos for a dad’s day out, and Buddy and the Pteranodon kids look for flowers to give to mom on her special Mother’s Day. More than 11M households tune in to watch “Dinosaur Train” each month! “Dinosaur Train” is produced by The Jim Henson Company. The run time of this DVD is approximately 100 minutes, and the DVD SRP is $9.99.

“DINOSAUR TRAIN” embraces and celebrates the fascination that preschoolers have with both dinosaurs and trains, while encouraging basic scientific thinking skills. Buddy and his adoptive family of Pteranodons go on whimsical adventures through prehistoric jungles, swamps, volcanoes and oceans as they unearth basic concepts in natural science, natural history and paleontology.

Hop aboard the Dinosaur Train this holiday season. In the eight fun-filled adventures featured in “Dinosaurs in the Snow,” Buddy and his Pteranodon family ride the Dinosaur Train to the North Pole, celebrate Mom’s favorite holiday which is winter solstice, and host a block party for some new neighbors. The run time of this DVD is approximately 120 minutes, and the DVD SRP is $9.99. The DVD includes special features – an interactive game, coloring pages, and a dinosaur reference guide.

Reading is power and “SUPER WHY” helps kids learn the fundamentals of reading through interactive story book adventures! This engaging DVD includes four reading adventures. In the story, “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas,” not a creature was stirring...except for Whyatt, who has an important question for Santa! So Super Why and his friends catch up with Santa and his reindeer as they gallop from rooftop to rooftop and unravel the mystery of Santa’s childhood, discovering along the way how to help spread the magic of the holiday. The run time of this DVD is approximately 100 minutes, and the DVD SRP is $9.99. The DVD includes special features – interactive games, music videos, and printable activities & coloring pages. More than 10M households tune in to watch “SUPER WHY” each month!

“SUPER WHY” is a breakthrough preschool series designed to help kids ages 3 to 6 with the critical skills that they need to learn to read as recommended by the National Reading Panel (alphabet skills, word families, spelling, comprehension and vocabulary).

Lovable characters, charming plotlines, humor and science all come together in the fun program “PEEP AND THE BIG WIDE WORLD.” In “Seasons of Adventure,” featuring eight stories, Peep, Chirp and Quack continue to explore and discover the big wide world. “Snow Daze” has Quack pondering duck design – because unlike beavers, ducks can’t slide on their tails, and “M-U-D Spells Trouble” showcases what you get when you mix mud and sun – a stuck robin, that’s what! The run time of this DVD is approximately 80 minutes, and the DVD SRP is $9.99.

Peep, a newly hatched chicken, and his friends, Chirp and Quack, (a robin and a duck) are eager to explore the big wide world, with all of the wonder and mystery that it holds. “PEEP AND THE BIG WIDE WORLD” gives wings to the innovative idea of teaching science to preschoolers.

Any of these titles would make a fantastic gift! All can be purchased at the PBS Kids Store in plenty of time for the holidays!
