Our Thoughts: This book was an immediate hit with my 7 year old daughter. Like most children, she is fascinated by sharks so as soon as she saw the cover and heard the title she couldn't wait to read it. Each page takes you along on Eugenie's journey from a young girl intrigued by sharks, to becoming a college student tackling any science class she could find, to becoming a respected scientist who became one of the most respected fish scientists of all time, discovering important facts about the misunderstood shark. The accompanying illustrations by Jordi Solano, are wonderful, depicting the deep waters and mysterious deep.
As a mother, I really appreciated a focus on a powerful woman who helped pave the way for many young girls who aspired to be "more". Not only did my daughter learn more about the sharks she loves but she also learned that like, Eugenie Clark, girls can do anything they set their mind to.
